“Heritage” – Noun

Something to be passed down through the generations, sometimes a tradition, often land or property but of course, in this era of sewing and craft, why not create a family heirloom and make this gorgeous heritage quilt?.

Add the date and name onto the back of the quilt to personalise your design, creating your little piece of history.

The finished quilt will be 58” x 58”, or add more borders if you want to increase the size.

The heritage quilt is a monthly workshop over 9 months and is more suitable for the advanced/intermediate quilter or those that have covered the foundation of quilting and the basic techniques.  Each month you will learn a new method to create a block or section and build the quilt as you progress.

On this journey, you will  learn

• How to set up and use a fabric key
• Draw and use templates
• Folded fabric – the centrepiece
• Braided blocks
• Trapunto
• Cording
• Add borders and cornerstones
• Hand turned applique
• How to build the quilt with different size blocks

The class is in  the studio in Mytholmroyd,  or if you prefer, to stay home join us via zoom on the Tuesday class .

If you join via zoom ,you will need access to a computer/Ipad or mobile phone. Each month click and follow the zoom invitation to watch the tutor do full demonstration; we support each workshop with full pdf of written and pictorial instructions, which are easy to follow.  You can choose to sew with the tutor on the day or wait and stitch at your leisure.  In addition, we also have a what’s app group for any questions or just that reassurance when you need it.

We have limited numbers in the studio with an individual dedicated workspace.  The Quilt Cabin studio is a bright, airy space located in the heart of West Yorkshire.

Susan designed this quilt and our local history,  The Bronte sisters  in Haworth, inspired the tutor.  So come along and have a fun day join us on this monthly 4-hour workshop to create this charming quilt.

The class is from 10 am – 2 pm but you are welcome to stay until we close at 4 pm
